Wander Up Overland Camping Jeep Wrangler

HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT OVERLANDING?

We did too. Here’s some general questions and answers you might have about overlanding and our rental service. Keep checking back, as we will add to this when we get more great questions.

  • Safe, easy to set up and tear down even with a single individual , no need to learn how to drive with a trailer, widens options for exploration, off grid is an option but not mandatory, just plain fun - like sleeping in a tree house. Unique, confidence building experience.

  • We want to make sure you are comfortable with using the equipment and have all your questions answered before you hit the road. Please allow around 30 minutes of time to inspect the vehicle, practice setting up and taking down the rooftop tent, and go over the equipment provided.

  • Basic setup takes about 10 minutes, although there are many ways to customize it for your comfort.

Setup is possible with one person but many hands make light work.

Takedown also takes about 10 minutes.

  • While we love furry friends of all sorts, Wander UP Overland does not allow animals in its vehicles or roof top tents. Violation of this policy will result in a $300 cleaning fee.

  • Do as you like, but we recommend no more than 3-4 people, for your comfort. Gear takes a lot of space. If you need additional sleeping space you can add-on/rent a ground tent.

  • This is a required transaction through a third party insurer (separate from rental of the vehicle) and priced at $25/day (with the option to purchase supplemental coverage if desired).

Overlanding is not your typical rental activity and requires insurance designed to protect you every step of the way. We have contracted with MBA insurance to provide you with a range of affordable insurance options.

  • Returning your rental is simple; fill the tank with gas, remove all personal items and discard any trash. We will do the rest! We want you to have fun out in nature and know that modest amounts of sand and mud, inside and outside the vehicle come with the territory. Vehicles that are returned excessively dirty that require additional cleaning hours will be charged an added, pro-rated cleaning fee deducted from the security deposit. Vehicles returned without a full tank of gas will be charged a $20 convenience fee in addition to the price of fuel used.

  • At Wander UP Overland our focus is on getting you out experiencing all the natural beauty our great state has to offer. Our Jeeps are well equipped to handle driving on paved, dirt, and forest roads, as well as many “two tracks.” Our Jeeps are not equipped to handle more technical driving experiences such as rock crawling and extreme inclines, such as the Drummond Island ORV trails. These activities are prohibited. Damage to equipment and loss of use found to result from engaging in prohibited activities will be the sole financial responsibility of the renter.

  • Enjoy your adventure for at least two nights!

  • While the majority of the Upper Peninsula has exceptional coverage, there are areas with limited or no cell service. To ensure you can explore without worry we offer the option to rent a satellite texting device called a Zoleo. This app-based system allows unlimited text messaging once paired with your phone and has an added SOS feature should you need assistance. Not sure if you will need one? Consult the map below for guidance or contact us for further assistance.
