Looking for an established campground? The UP has too many campgrounds to list. Here are a couple of links to get you started on your search for the perfect spot.

Looking to go off-grid? Dispersed camping is fun and free. Campers looking for adventure can choose their ideal spot from over 2 million acres of National and State Forest land in the Upper Peninsula.

  • State Forest Land (a free permit required): Please review this information from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Please be sure to get your Michigan Backpacking Registration Card.

There are dozens of safe, easily identifiable plants and mushrooms available year-round. The DNR has created some great resources to get you started.

CELLULAR

While the majority of the Upper Peninsula has exceptional coverage, there are areas with limited or no cell service. To ensure you can explore without worry we offer the option to rent a satellite texting device called a Zoleo. This app-based system allows unlimited text messaging once paired with your phone and has an added SOS feature should you need assistance. Not sure if you will need one?
